We often feel frustrated when we can't get the dog's attention and that it just wouldn't come near us no matter how hard we clap our hands or what a wonderful toy we have on our hands.
The trick is, we actually don't need to clap our hands or get anything attractive to get the doggy comes near. All we have to do is to squat down and place our hand under the doggy's eye level. I tried this with many doggies in the past and this works well for me. Why we would want to position our hand below their eye level is because this is consider as a non-attacking posture to a dog, to show our friendliness. Of course...don't hit the doggy or do something bad when it comes to you or else I am pretty sure it won't work in the second time! LoL
Dogs are just like human, when we encountering children, which are much shorter than us, they would like it more if we squat down so that they can look at us at their eye level. This is just the same when we are dealing with dogs. Don't try to clap your hands or do anything, just put your hand below the eye level of the doggy, they would come near automatically! :):)
